It’s Slacker Time!
June 10, 2010 6 CommentsIt was raining, there was a thunderstorm, and the road construction issues continue, but at 8:00am we bought our ticket and headed up to see the faces in the mountain.
It’s pretty amazing .. but even more so when you look at the before and after pix. Yes, the Lakota still claim the mountain belongs to them. Yes, some believe it glorifies Manifest Destiny. And yes, the sculptor was a member of the Ku Klux Klan.
But it sure is pretty.
Day 5, Notes About Stuff
Amazing. I visited Mt. Rushmore in 1990 and it didn’t disappoint. I was on my way(roadtrip)from Vancouver to Toronto to start my first full time, permanent job as an archivist at the Archives of Ontario. I’ve never been back. Aren’t the Hoodoos close by? Bryce Canyon? That was also amazing. When we drove by the Hoodoos, there wasn’t another car on the road. Well, that was 20 years ago. Yikes!
Alas, no hoodoos. Tomorrow we’ll be in Utah and shall be on high hoodoo alert. The Canada trip sounds amazing …
Oh, in case you missed it (because I know how much you both love hockey), the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup last night.
We are well aware of the Blackhawk victory! Colleen turned it on the tv and just in case we had confirmation from Chicago!!
Isn’t that Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint I see in that picture?
On the music front, I left my Morman Tabernacle Choir CD at home – any other suggestions?
